British photojournalist Martin Parr (television screen) spoke to a sold out crowd at school last night. Unable to get a
seat, I watched the lecture via video link in the student lounge.
While I admire Parr's work, I was taken aback by his snippy tone toward US culture. His comments were delicately
couched in dry British humour. It was off-putting to hear that very stereotypes he attempts to deconstruct
are firmly intrenched in his lexicon. Perhaps his humour was lost in translation.
Overall an enjoyable evening with nuggets of inspiration.

Kirsten Murphy - JT! High praise coming from someone as well read as you. And a Brit to boot.
Speaking of reading, have heard of Raymond Carver? His style is stark, a little dark and full of double meaning. A classmate drew a complimentary comparison between his short stories and my images.
Thanks for the comment about the bathing cap shot. These ladies are such a treat to photograph.
Happy Halloween. Looking forward to pictures of the Zombie family. Sorry to hear about M's pants.

Damn...you're good. And this is coming from a woman who has a very comfortable settee AND a British heritage (but finds things, other than wit, tucked in her couch...like stale cheerios and wandering quarters...).
I enjoy your writing as much as your photos. Which. Is. A. Lot.
