My "to do" list. All due in the next week.
1. Art History - Read and respond to Fox Talbot's 90-pages of The Pencil of Nature (1859). Tablot is a founding father of photography. Our written response is to include a photo of our own.
2. Visual Thinking for Magazines - Research and print an image for a magazine article about the rising cost of college education in the US.
3. Seminar - Read the first chapter in Susan Sontag's On Photography (1977). Be prepared to discuss Sontag's POV in the digital age. Take a photo that reflects the reading. Post a comment to the class blog.
4. Darkroom - Shoot and process 6-10 rolls of B&W film and experiment with different developers. Print contact sheets. Group project.
5. Digital Media - Shoot a series of still life objects for colour balance exercise.

Marie M - WOW, guess you are not going to be bored and looking for something to fill the hours...like sleep! You'll do great, I just know it.
If it helps, it's cold and blustery here in Yellowknife...you know those damp, cold, windy days we get before the lake freezes over. Still have colours though so it's not too bad, so far we are holding the dreaded white season at bay.
Hang in there, drop us a line when you come up for air. We love to see/hear from you.

Kirsten - Hi Marie - Thanks for your comments. I have learned to adjust my sleep schedule. I live in a neighbourhood where people use car stereos as outdoor sound systems - often late at night. Then the garbage trucks are are below my window six days a week just before 7 am. Good morning!
I can imagine the turn of seasons in YK. Jason sent me a photo of snow. It must almost be time for the lake to freeze into a clean, sheer sheet of ice. I love that time of year. I know the hockey players that frequent your house do, too.
Cousin Ed Murphy - Glad you found me. Some people have had difficulty finding the blog. Not sure if that is my website layout or a technical issue. The darkroom at school is amazing. It is the only fully functioning darkroom in the city. I developed a test roll and prints yesterday. Like riding a bike: you never forget.
JT- Sorry we did not connect last night. Let's keep trying. I am heading out to shoot a cemetery in the Bronx. Everyone from prostitutes to presidents (or relations of) are buried there. Will have my phone with me.
xoxo
