A packed house for the opening of of Sebastião Salgado’s Genesis. The red dot is the 70-year-old artist. The blue
rectangle is ICP executive director Mark Lubell.
Salgado is a noted social documentary photographer from Brazil. He shoots exclusively in black and white.
“In GENESIS, my camera allowed nature to speak to me. And it was my privilege to listen,”
his artist’s statement reads.
Salgado’s celebrity status among NY’s photographic elite is clear. He shook hands and kissed cheeks all night.
I look forward to his lecture at ICP.
